Not only is it proven that eating small snacks throughout the day increases your metabolism, but it truly does keep you from overeating. Eating small meals really keeps your body satisfied, without having to feel like your starving!
And for those days, that you DO want to have a bigger meal, have it during the day instead of at night time! Whatever you normally eat, whether its steak, rice and beans, or pasta, have those ‘heavy’ meals during lunch time, when you are most likely to burn off some of those calories throughout the day, than you would at dinner time. Try having “lighter” foods for dinner, like salad, granola bar and yogurt, or soup.
Listen to your body! If you are feeling satisfied, stop eating…don’t finish your plate! …or your kids!….or what’s left in the pot either! It’s okay to leave leftovers…actually challenge yourself to always leave some food on your plate! Did you know that in some countries, it’s actually bad manners to finish your plate? And if you have kids, and they don’t finish their snacks, don’t finish those off either! Think about it…you’re not a garbage can!
Wow! if I can count the times I actually have caught myself just shoving a granola in my mouth and running out the door, just because I’m in a hurry! Just pretend that’s the last piece of food you have for the day, and you need to make it last…take a nibble at a time and take f-o-r-e-v-e-r eating it! You’ll find that somehow that granola did fill you up this time around!
Make sure you chew your food 10-15 times! This will not only help you eat more s-l-o-w-l-y, but it will help your body digest your food better!
Okay, water is good for you…yes we all know that! Drinking water before a meal will make you start feeling ‘fuller’ faster and then the final glass, is to make sure all that food you just ate, goes down! Think about it, how many times you have sat through an entire meal and noticed your glass was still full? Drink Up!
:: Avoid What You Usually Eat or Eat It at a Different Time ::
Pay attention to what types of foods you are eating (if you haven’t done so already!). If you are eating too many pastas and breads, or yummy desserts, cut back on them for a while. Or perhaps you notice you are always having toast for breakfast or pasta for dinner. If that’s the case, then start having a yogurt and fruit for breakfast and pasta for lunch instead. Our bodies do get ‘used’ to eating things at certain times, so change it up!
If you normally eat 5 cookies for dessert, start cutting back to 3 cookies, to then 1! Or if you always buy regular cream cheese or butter, go for the ‘light’ one next time!
Not only does serving your food on a small plate or bowl, help you keep portion size down, but mentally, you are eating a full plate of food!
And for those days, when you need to cheat…go for it! But save your wrappers! It’s easy to overeat when you keep throwing away your candy or chocolate wrappers in the garbage. If you keep them out, for the day, you’re more likely to feel guilty about eating too many of them. So keep them as reminders!
Whether you went out partying, you overate, were sick, or just to start fresh! Try a DeTox tea! Because anyone can start from now…and make a brand new ending!

Thanks for recommending the Batch5, it really helped me stop those cravings and being so hungry all of the time.I finally feel in control of my appetite and what/when I want to eat.
Glad it helped you out too!
Good tips. It's scary what our society has turned into with all these fad diets...everyone just needs to become aware of their eating habits and just make better choices!
I agree.
I never dump dressings or sauces over my food, instead, I have the sauces on the side in a ramekin so I can dip my fork into the sauce and then pinch my food. It really saves on consuming extra calories!
That is a great tip! And I can think of how many times I accidentally put too much dressing by mistake....yuck!
You’ve got some great tips there, some that I had never thought of before! And it’s sooo true….sometimes when we put ourselves in the mindset that we are on a ‘diet’, its doomed from the start! The tips just give you a different perspective on how to lose some weight. I guess sometimes its just HOW you look at things…
Very true Jill! Ultimately, its about making better choices, and stopping "cold turkey" sometimes, doesn't work. This is a great way to ease into losing weight. Because it never really is about "dieting" its truly about a "way of life"!
