Using the crepe paper, tape one end of it to the headboard/footboard of the bed, and weave the crepe paper back and forth until you have formed a complete layer. Make sure you pull on the crepe paper rather tightly so that it doesn’t sag down and it can hold the weight of the small balloons. This will also not allow the birthday person to see the balloons through the cracks!

Blow up all your small balloons with air and place on top of the crepe paper.
Using the paper and markers, make your own sign with instructions for the birthday person to “RIP OPEN for a BIRTHDAY SURPRISE!“. Tape your sign underneath the crepe paper and above your birthday person. NOTE: After this step, especially for older kids, you can continue to close in your birthday person with more crepe paper on the sides, so their bed is completely covered on all sides and ‘closed in’ with crepe paper.
