For our son's birthday morning surprise, he woke up to a room filled with balloons (72 to be exact!). But, as the celebrations came to an end, I felt an overwhelming amount of guilt with all those popped broken balloon pieces. So, I upcycled them into a garland for our next birthday celebration!
Thread your cotton twine string through the eye of your craft sewing needle.
Make sure you have a piece of balloon that has a double layer for the needle to go through. Naturally, the balloons have two sides the needles would go through, but if the balloon broke into a thin piece, simply fold over the piece to make it double. This will provide additional support to ensure your balloon pieces don’t break/fall off.
Continue to do this for every balloon, alternating colors. Notice I did not cut off my string yet. I will continue to sew and slide all the balloons into place.
Continue to alternate colors, sizes, and ways to sew them onto the garland.
That’s it! Super easy and you can reuse this garland over and over!
Best part is that none of those balloons made it into the landfills!
