Did you know that by January 15th, 95% of the people who have made a New Years resolution have broken it already? Perhaps it’s because we put such a drastic change and demand on our bodies, that makes it nearly impossible to keep! That’s why I’m never on a diet…nor do I make New Years resolutions! I simply make the following adjustments, which not only trick your body into losing weight but tells your mind that you’re NOT on diet!
The following are tips for keeping your New Years resolution without changing your diet!
:: Eat Smaller Meals or Snacks Instead of Big Meals ::
Not only is it proven that eating small snacks throughout the day increases your metabolism, but it truly does keep you from overeating. Eating small meals really keeps your body satisfied, without having to feel like your starving!
:: Eat a Bigger Lunch and a Lighter Dinner ::
And for those days, that you DO want to have a bigger meal, have it during the day instead of at night time! Whatever you normally eat, whether its steak, rice and beans, or pasta, have those ‘heavy’ meals during lunch time, when you are most likely to burn off some of those calories throughout the day, than you would at dinner time. Try having “lighter” foods for dinner, like salad, granola bar and yogurt, or soup.
:: Don’t Finish Your Plate! ::
Listen to your body! If you are feeling satisfied, stop eating…don’t finish your plate! …or your kids!….or what’s left in the pot either! It’s okay to leave leftovers…actually challenge yourself to always leave some food on your plate! Did you know that in some countries, it’s actually bad manners to finish your plate? And if you have kids, and they don’t finish their snacks, don’t finish those off either! Think about it…you’re not a garbage can!
:: Eat S-L-O-W-L-Y ::
Wow! if I can count the times I actually have caught myself just shoving a granola in my mouth and running out the door, just because I’m in a hurry! Just pretend that’s the last piece of food you have for the day, and you need to make it last…take a nibble at a time and take f-o-r-e-v-e-r eating it! You’ll find that somehow that granola did fill you up this time around!
Make sure you chew your food 10-15 times! This will not only help you eat more s-l-o-w-l-y, but it will help your body digest your food better!
:: Drink a Large Glass of Water Before and After Every Meal ::
Okay, water is good for you…yes we all know that! Drinking water before a meal will make you start feeling ‘fuller’ faster and then the final glass, is to make sure all that food you just ate, goes down! Think about it, how many times you have sat through an entire meal and noticed your glass was still full? Drink Up!
:: Avoid What You Usually Eat or Eat It at a Different Time ::
Pay attention to what types of foods you are eating (if you haven’t done so already!). If you are eating too many pastas and breads, or yummy desserts, cut back on them for a while. Or perhaps you notice you are always having toast for breakfast or pasta for dinner. If that’s the case, then start having a yogurt and fruit for breakfast and pasta for lunch instead. Our bodies do get ‘used’ to eating things at certain times, so change it up!
:: Make Small Adjustments::
If you normally eat 5 cookies for dessert, start cutting back to 3 cookies, to then 1! Or if you always buy regular cream cheese or butter, go for the ‘light’ one next time!
:: Serve Yourself in a Small Bowl or Plate ::
Not only does serving your food on a small plate or bowl, help you keep portion size down, but mentally, you are eating a full plate of food!
:: Save Your Wrappers ::
And for those days, when you need to cheat…go for it! But save your wrappers! It’s easy to overeat when you keep throwing away your candy or chocolate wrappers in the garbage. If you keep them out, for the day, you’re more likely to feel guilty about eating too many of them. So keep them as reminders!
:: Start Fresh, Start New…DeTox! ::
Whether you went out partying, you overate, were sick, or just to start fresh! Try a DeTox tea! Because anyone can start from now…and make a brand new ending!

If you are looking on how to lose weight without dieting or working out, skip the following two tips (…but you might reconsider after you read this!). If not, read on…
:: Exercise 10-20 Minutes Daily ::
Instead of working out 30-45 minutes 3-4 times per week, try exercising 10-20 minutes a day (or at least every other day)! Sometimes, its just not motivating enough to want to work out for 45 minutes, when you are already tired! Or maybe you just don’t have that much time! There’s even workout videos that are for only 10 minutes! (There’s a whole series of them and they all have 4 star reviews. Check them out here: 10 Minute Butt Lift, 10 Minute Blast Off Belly Fat, 10 Minute Knockout Body, 10 Minute Pilates Perfect Body, 10 Minute Fat Blasting Dance Mix, 10 Minute Kickbox Bootcamp, 10 Minute 5 day Get Fit Mix, and even a 10 Minute Yoga). Now…that you can do!
:: Change Your Exercise Routines ::
Our bodies do get used to doing the same exercises! So, if you’re always jogging, stop for a while and try some exercise DVDs, like the ones mentioned above, or vice versa. Also, sometimes you are used to exercising first thing in the morning or late in the evening…try switching it up!
